German right-wing populism is in essence either a relatively practical political style or a political strategy for right-wing parties. German right-wing populism includes two major types of party style and political style. It is anti-elitism, anti-politics, and anti-establishment, advocates identity politics, and opposes multiculturalism. In recent years, the direct cause of the resurgence of German right-wing populism is the debt crisis and refugee crisis in Europe. The indirect cause is the “de-ideologicalization” middle-course policy pursued by German mainstream parties and the gradual dilution of domestic political power during the process of EU integration. Right-wing populism to some extent constitutes a threat to German democratic institutions and its multicultural value system, but it is different from Fascism.
