Affective patterns dominate human behaviors and determine the ideational basis of human behaviors. The crux of culturgenetic heredity is the exact reproduction of affective patterns. An examination of Chinese culturgen across the Taiwan Strait has found the sameness of affective patterns as Chinese people on both sides still attach enormous importance to kinship-related personnel, objects, and values. On the other hand, the content of political propaganda is where the difference of affective patterns lies in and belongs to the variation of culturgen, which has become the source of cross-Strait frictions. We need to understand and solve cross-Strait problems from the perspective of “civilizational entity” instead of “organizational entity”, and promote further integration of kinship and affection across the Strait so that each side becomes part of the other’s psychosocial homeostasis. It is also appropriate to view “kinship-focused” as the Chinese way to maintain psychosocial homeostasis. In addition, this project of examining cross-Strait culturgen proves Francis L. K. Hsu’s theory on psychosocial homeostasis.
