Having joined the European Union, Central and Eastern European countries are facing new developmental difficulties. These dilemmas are manifested in the following aspects: identity, political thought, bilateral external relations, growth models, security and geopolitics. Causes of these dilemmas include issues within the development of Central and Eastern European countries, the structure and policies of the EU and the influence of transatlantic relations. Presently, the negative and harmful effects of political thoughts, bilateral relations, and growth pattern are apparent. Potential negative effects of other difficulties appear ever so often.
