Susan Strange’s conceptual framework in the study of IPE embodies the quality of critique and has practical use ontologically. Her methodology is similar to Paul Feyerabend’s methodological anarchism. Her framework is one of historical relativism. Her framework for structural power is one of non-state-centrism and uses the value of compromise. However, her framework does not emphasize the inherent and interactive relationships among four basic structures of which the structural power consists. Most importantly it gives no explanation of dynamics of change in structures. This causes her thoughts on values to be skewed, and finally returns to the track of “problem-solving theory.”
