Following the growing pains of political change and the political and social instability, as well as economic decline that followed, creation of political democratic institutions, particularly the consolidation of “nationalist” and “African” multi-party democratic institutions, has generally improved the situation in Africa. Politics are becoming more stable, ethnic conflicts are easing, social order becoming more peaceful, economic development is advancing, and Africa’s international standing is improving. From this we can see the positive effects of political democratization are to continue in the region.
