China's thought on international rule of law in the new era is an institutional thought and cultural concept formed in the 21st century, as China becomes increasingly influential in the world and the world is witnessing the trend of so-called “de-globalization”. This thought on international rule of law stems from traditional Chinese culture, and it has a clear inheritance relationship with the diplomatic thought and understanding of international law since the founding of the People's Republic of China. Meanwhile, it has also incorporated great achievements about international law from around the world. Under the guidance of Marxist world outlook and methodology, China's thought on international rule of law constitutes a theoretical system that exhibits Chinese characteristics, safeguards China's interests, and promotes world progress. It takes independence of states and equality among them as the bottom line and starting point, has the coexistence and diversity of civilizations as the principle of interaction, takes fairness and effectiveness as the mode of action, and sees mutual benefit and win-win cooperation as the ultimate goal. It clearly reflects and leads the new constellation of the international society, proposes a series of new concepts and programs, and contributes Chinese wisdom and Chinese power to world development.
